Custom Website Design

What Does Your Website Say About You?

At Elevate Design, we build blazing fast, attractive, interactive, and affordable websites.

Our websites are built on the highly acclaimed WordPress platform resulting in an elegant, well-architectured publishing system. All of our website design projects include a CMS (content management system) that allows the end-user(s) to update the website on their own, eliminating a lot of additional costly expense.

In addition, a maintenance plan can be arranged to give you the freedom you need to grow your business, or to get a few extra holes in at the golf course.

Our Process

At Elevate Design we listen to the needs of our clients and facilitate them with a personal one-on-one approach.  We take the time to talk with you about your needs and create an intelligent plan to meet them expeditiously. We’ll take the time to work closely with you to ensure that your organization’s purpose and personality are evident. Elevate Design takes a linear approach, simplifying the process from start to finish.

Take a few moments to get acquainted with our process.  We think you’ll agree, it’s the best way to help you get to the next level.

Planning

The planning stage is probably the most important, because what’s discussed and decided here will be implemented throughout the entire project. This is also the stage when interaction between Elevate Design and the customer will be focused on attention to detail. Sometimes issues will be discussed several times and from different angles to make certain that we cover all bases and that we are on the same page.

Personal Consultation and Project Analysis

During  this meeting we will discuss and document your goals, target audience, important features, and as much relevant information as we can.  This meeting will be helpful in determining the workflow and total cost of the project.

Proposal / Agreement

The proposal will lay out the project details, the roles of Elevate Design as well as the customer, the cost of the project, and the cost of third party resources (stock photography, fonts, sub-contractors, etc.) if they are required. A project flow chart that sums up the information gathered in the first meeting will also be provided. Once the proposal has been agreed upon the Website Setup will begin.

Host Account/Website Setup

A hosting account will be set up by the customer to effectively host your website’s files.  Once the account has been set up and verified, the password will need to be given to Elevate Design so that we can begin the setup of FTP accounts, database configuration, the website platform, and frameworks.  Elevate Design recommends Bluehost as the host service provider to boost speed and performance. In addition, Bluehost offers amazing customer service and support.  Trust me, that is just as important as choosing a qualified web designer. A link to Bluehost can be found at the bottom right-hand side of this page. Click on the link and follow the instructions to set up an account.  It’s easy as 1-2-3.

File Sharing With Dropbox

Dropbox: File-sharing and collaboration tool

We will send you an invitation to join a shared file that will be created specifically for your project.  This file will be the bridge between you and Elevate Design. We will be able to transfer large files, such as images and videos simply by copying and pasting into the shared Dropbox file.  You’ll have it on your computer and we’ll have it on ours.  It’s easy, fast, and free!

Design

The design stage takes the information outlined in the planning stage and brings it to life. The graphic look and feel of the website will have taken shape upon completion of this phase.

Graphics Planning

This is where the visual layout of the website begins to take shape. Using information gathered from the client in the planning phase, we will begin to design the overall appearance of the website. Basically, a pencil and paper are used to draw up a rudimentary layout and design. Kinda “old school”, but it still applies to today’s design.

Photoshop – this is where the magic happens

Here comes the fun part! Design mock-ups will be created in Photoshop.  This is the creative stage where the excitement begins.  This step also prepares your website for slicing and coding.

Review and Approval

A process of reviewing, tweaking, and approving the mock-ups will take place until (ideally) both parties are satisfied with the design. This is the time to make changes, not after the design has been implemented and coded.

Slicing and Coding

It’s coding time. Time to slice the final Photoshop mock-up, and transfer the design code. At this time, the graphics come to life. Both parties will validate and approve this step before moving forward.

Development

The Development phase is when most of the programming work takes place. In addition, content is loaded, features are added, and ultimately, the website is created. Some of the steps listed below may have already taken place or they will take place simultaneously, so this period of the process can seem a little hectic. It’s OK, the hard work will pay off in the end.

Framework Development

The website platform will be (or has already been) loaded on the host server. This will generate the structure of the website and will prepare it for development.

Page Creation

A website usually has several pages such as the home page, about us, contact us, and so on. We will create matching pages that will instill uniformity across the project, so the website will look like it belongs together as a whole. Simply put, this is good web design practice.

Features and Interactivity Development

This step involves installing cool, but functional elements and/or plugins. The interactive portion of the site will be developed at this time, as well as the integration of custom forms.

Content Loading

This is a critical part of the process because this is the time when we will load all of the content provided by the customer. It is important for the customer to make certain the content they provide is correct, accurate, and has been proofed for errors. We will review the content and will try to correct errors when we find them, however, in the end it is the customer’s responsibility to provide us with clean content.

Testing

We will do a complete review of your website at this time. We will make sure all pages load as they should, links work correctly, and the functionality of the site is up to snuff.  This is the final stage before we launch.

We get a little anxious at this time and usually get butterflies in our stomachs. That’s because we can’t wait for what comes next!

Launch

The Launch phase puts the website out there for public viewing. At this time the project is 90-100% complete, but may require some additional attention before total completion. Basically, this is where we polish it up before we hand it over.

Detailing

Detailing a site (or polishing) can make a big difference in the overall design of a website. We will identify areas that need small improvements so that you will be proud of your investment. This is what turns a happy customer into an elated customer and ultimately, that is our goal and what drives us.

Pssst…I’ll let you in on a secret…we do this for ourselves too. This may sound a little selfish, but we take pride in our work and want our finished product to be the best it can be.

3…..2……1……We have liftoff!

The website is now ready to “go live”.  When the customer is ready, we will flip the switch and let the world see what you have been dying to show them.  This is our proudest moment and usually a time of celebration for both us and our customers.  So break out the disco albums, it’s time to party!
